Calathea plants are known for their foliage, which is characterized by intricate patterns, vibrant colours, and unique textures. One of the most interesting features of Calathea plants is their interactive behaviour. Their leaves rhythmically open and close in response to daylight changes, adding a dynamic and lively element to your home or office environment.

The Peacock Plant, Calathea makoyana, is celebrated for its stunning foliage resembling the patterns of a peacock's feathers. With its broad, oval-shaped leaves featuring shades of green, cream, and pink, the Peacock Plant adds a touch of exotic beauty to any indoor environment.

Lighting: Place in bright, indirect light, shielded from direct sunlight to prevent leaf damage.

Watering: Water moderately, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot. You can stick your finger into the soil to check its moisture level or use our moisture meter to take the guesswork out.

Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix like our Fafard potting soil when repotting.

Temperature & Humidity: Maintain a warm, humid environment with temperatures between 18°C to 27°C and humidity levels around 50% to 70% to mimic its native tropical habitat.

Fertilization: Feed with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer monthly during the spring and summer growing season. Reduce to 8 weeks in fall and winter.
