Dracaena

Dracaena’s elegant and vibrant foliage adds a touch of sophistication to any space. It is among the easiest to grow and most common indoor plants, making it an ideal choice for beginner and experienced plant enthusiasts.

LIGHT REQUIREMENTS Dracaena generally grows best in bright, filtered, indirect light, but can also tolerate lower light conditions; direct sunlight may scorch the leaves.

WATERING GUIDELINES Keep soil consistently moist in the spring through fall, but allow it to go slightly drier in the winter. Avoid complete soil dryness to prevent browning, especially at the tips, and be cautious of over-watering to prevent root rot from soggy soil.

SOIL PREFERENCES Plant Dracaena in well-draining soil, preferably a mix of potting soil and perlite or sand. Over time, Dracaena can react to a buildup of fertilizers and salts from softened water. If this happens, flush with water until it runs clear from the bottom of the pot, or re-pot, replacing as much of the soil as possible.

TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY Dracaena prefers temperatures between 18-27°C and average indoor humidity levels; protect it from drafts and sudden temperature changes.

FERTILIZATION AND PEST MANAGEMENT Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer once or twice a year in the spring and summer. Keep an eye out for mealy bugs, spider mites and scale insects; control pests by wiping leaves with a damp cloth and treating them with insecticidal soap or neem oil.

Dracaena plants are toxic to dogs and cats, so be sure to place them out of reach of curious pets.
