The Nagami kumquat is the most popular variety, known for its oval-shaped fruit and a unique flavour combination of sweet, edible skin and tart pulp. This hardy kumquat tree is both decorative and productive, thriving indoors with proper care. The small, vibrant orange fruits are ideal for snacking, preserves, or garnishes, offering a burst of tangy sweetness.
Lighting: Provide 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily, placing the tree in a south-facing window. Rotate occasionally for balanced growth.
Watering: Water when the top 3cm of soil is dry to the touch. Avoid overwatering by checking soil moisture with a moisture meter.
Potting Mix: Use a citrus-friendly, well-draining potting mix such as our Fafard potting soil.
Temperature: Maintain temperatures between 18-30°C. Protect from cold drafts or heat sources.
Humidity: Moderate to high humidity is essential. Use a humidifier or a pebble tray to boost moisture levels.
Fertilization: Feed with a balanced citrus fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth. Decrease to every 8 weeks during fall and winter.
All citrus trees are generally toxic to both cats and dogs.
